Dean Cox vs. Adelaide (12 matches, ave. 85, career ave. 78.6)
Definitely my number one tip for the week. His last 5 matches against the Crows makes for good reading; 140, 129, 104, 140 and 108. Really hard to go past him, especially considering the fledging ruck division of Griffen and Tippett he’s up against.
Prediction: 121
Matthew Richardson vs. Essendon (18 matches, ave. 92.2, career ave. 81.6)
Big Richo is in spectacular form this season and has terrific record against the Bombers. His return last season was 130 and 97 and the match before that was a modest 189. I was there that night in 2006 and admittedly he was on Kepler Bradley so we can minus 60 from his score but still 129 is a great score.
Prediction: 115
Matthew Pavlich vs. Carlton (11 matches, ave 101.3, career ave. 86.7)
While Fremantle remain a one-man team, the one man is travelling quite nicely this season, averaging 95. Has produced some big numbers against Carlton in the past, including a score of 128 in their last meeting.
Prediction: 110
Smokie: Heath Shaw vs. Geelong (3 matches, ave. 96.7, career ave. 86.2)
Heath had an absolute shocker last week with a 40 against the Saints. He’s the kind of player that doesn’t usually have two bad games in a row. He’ll be keen to make amends this week against the Cats, who he has a pretty decent record against, averaging almost 97.
Prediction: 112
Really Smokie: Adam Bentick vs. Fremantle (4 matches, ave. 78, career ave. 69.7)
I reckon he’s by far the number one tackler in the league. And if anyone’s ever going to break the 200 mark I reckon it’s this kid, and the way he’s going to do it is by tackling every opposition player twice (22 players X 2 tackles each X 4 = 176) OK, so chuck in a few cheap kicks and he’s there.
Prediction: 201
