The Bombers are impressing this pre-season and easily defeated the hopeful Bulldogs at the Dome.
The Brief...
- Scott Lucas is back and Ricky Dyson lives up to the hype!
- Bulldogs show consistency led by Johnson, Cross and Cooney
The Bombers
Scott Lucas re-joined the Bombers and led from the front, helping himself to 18 posessions, 8 marks, 2 goals, 102 Dream Team points and 124 SuperCoaches! Ricky Dyson (101, 116) lived up to the hype and his push for more responsibility in the Bombers line-up, while Lovett-Murray (74,96) and Jobe Watson (74,91) also put in strong performances. Leroy Jetta (85,83), Bachar Houli (74,91) and Kyle Reimers (64,82) were the best of the young guys.
With Lucas back, David Hill (67,55) was a bit down on points, Alwyn Davey (63,70) was thereabouts, and Davien Peverill (51,52), Pat Ryder (50,75), Jason Laycock (35,46) and Jason Johnson (33,38) will need to get more involved to get a gig in anyones SuperCoach or Dream Team.
The Bulldogs
One of the great things about the Dogs is they pretty much have the same contributers every game. So when you bring a Bulldog into your side they should score pretty consistently from week to week.
Against Essendon it was no exception, Brad Johnson fired with 100 DT points and 121 in SuperCoach, while Daniel Cross (101,85), Adam Cooney (90,102), Nathan Eagleton (79,67) and J.Ackermanis (72,92) all delivered solid performances.
Matthew Boyd returned and played above his price tag with 90 DT's and 114 SC's, and young Bulldog Josh Hill (74,46) may be a name to keep in mind, particularly for his Dream Team performance. Robert Murphy (70,58) also stepped up a bit on his round 1 performance.
Scott West (71,56) is well down on his typical scores early in the year and this may be off-putting for some but the season coaches will know not to rule him out. In the ruck, neither Peter Street (53,61) or Ben Hudson (46,47) appeared to take on a dominant role and if that policy persists it could render them both useless for DT and SuperCoaches.
What's Next?
The Bombers are through to the semi's where they'll take on the Saints or Cats, while the Western Bulldogs hit the challenge circuit and could be up against anyone, anywhere.
