These players have switched clubs:
- Steven King (Geelong to St Kilda)
Barring injury, will get more gametime at St Kilda than he did with the Cats, but probably doesn't win enough ball to make him a good fantasy prospect.
- Jordan McMahon (Western Bulldogs -> Richmond)
Early comments from Greg Miller indicate McMahon will be a designated kicker at Richmon, similar to Josh Drummond at the Lions or Brendan Goddard at the Saints. These players are often given the ball across half-back due to their creative skills, and are often brilliant fantasy point-scorers.
McMahon is one to watch closely over the pre-season.
- Chris Judd (West Coast -> Carlton)
See previous post yesterday
- Tim Callan (Geelong -> Western Bulldogs)
Won Geelong's VFL best-and-fairest, but he's a tough midfielder who probably won't win heaps of possession. However, his arrival could free up Farren Ray or Matthew Boyd in the Dogs' midfield.
- Ben Hudson (Adelaide -> Western Bulldogs)
Will be their first-choice ruckman, as he was at Adelaide, and I wouldn't expect any great increase in fantasy numbers.
- Travis Johnstone (Melbourne - Brisbane Lions)
Had a shithouse season, and his fantasy output was expected to improve regardless of where he played. However, as many are pointing out, Johnstone should find more freedom in a Lions midfield containing Simon Black, Nigel Lappin and Luke Power.
Interestingly, he said yesterday that new Demons coach Dean Bailey was planning to play him off half-back next year.
That may not happen at the Lions, but they've recruited him for a reason. Like McMahon at Richmond (see above), Johnstone may be given plenty of possession by less-skilled Lions teammates.
- Cameron Wood (Brisbane Lions -> Collingwood)
Will be second-choice ruck behind Fraser at the Pies, and is therefore set to play plenty of matches. Remains to be seen whether he can grab plenty of possessions, but hasn't shown much in that department to date.
- Sam Power (Western Bulldogs -> Kangaroos)
Should get more opportunities at the Roos, although he's never been a huge possession winner.
- John Meesen (Adelaide -> Melbourne)
Probably the biggest potential improver of anyone in this list. Meesen has the style to win plenty of possession across the ground, and should get a healthy go at Melbourne in 2008.
After only two games this year, he'll be cheap in round 1 next year. One to watch.
Thoughts, gang?
